The Clinical Assistant provides direct care to patients, including patient hygiene and activities of daily living, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role performs delegated direct care activities allowed under the New York State Practice Act, regulations, hospital policies, and standards met by Nursing Services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care, including hygiene and activities of daily living, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Perform delegated direct care activities allowed under the New York State Practice Act, regulations, hospital policies, and standards met by Nursing Services.
- Support department functions as assigned by the appropriate Registered Nurse and/or Manager.
- High school graduate or equivalent work experience, including ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology.
- Previous experience as Clinical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician (at least one year preferred) or ability to satisfactorily complete a training program.
- High level of interpersonal skills to interact with patient families, staff, and management.
- Highly motivated, able to work outside normal working hours as volume demands.
- Certification for Basic Life Support or willingness to perform within the first month of hire.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
