Boone County Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our special education department, you will play a vital role in helping students with disabilities achieve their full potential.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a certified occupational therapist to provide high-quality therapy services to students in our special education program. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with a variety of abilities and needs, and will be able to develop and implement individualized treatment plans to help students achieve their goals.

About the Role:

This position involves providing occupational therapy services to students in our public schools. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to assess student needs, develop treatment plans, and implement interventions to improve functional performance skills and promote independence.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities to identify areas of strength and weakness.
  2. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address specific student needs and goals.
  3. Provide direct therapy services to students, including fine motor, gross motor, and sensory integration activities.
  4. Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to integrate therapy services into students' educational programs.
  5. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress and involve them in the therapy process.
  6. Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans for students.
  7. Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress and therapy services provided.
  8. Stay current with best practices in occupational therapy and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification in Occupational Therapy required; licensure in the state of Kentucky preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working as an occupational therapist in a school setting; pediatric experience preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
