POSITION SUMMARY:

The role involves operating various conventional and/or numerically controlled machining centers on moderately complex tasks. The machinist will work from blueprints, sketches, planning sheets, verbal instructions, and/or engineering, tooling, or equipment specifications. This position plays a crucial role in lean initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and minimizing costs, while functioning with limited supervision in a collaborative environment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Set up and operate multiple production machines, performing operations such as cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming parts. Adjust machines as necessary and report any issues with machine performance.
  • Align and secure workpieces using standard fixtures and established methods.
  • Install and modify cutting tools according to the type and size of the material being processed.
  • Adhere to established manufacturing procedures using standard production machines, materials, and tooling.
  • Adjust feeds, speeds, and cutting depths to produce quality components in accordance with documentation.
  • Utilize hand and power tools to deburr precision and complex machine parts following engineering blueprints and route sheets to meet close tolerances.
  • Inspect components for compliance with specifications using measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, micrometers, and comparators. Employ various magnification tools to identify and prevent damage to surfaces and critical areas.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability in line with division standards.
  • Perform statistical process control (SPC) consistently as per division requirements.
  • Actively engage in lean initiatives by identifying and suggesting areas for improvement, effectively applying lean concepts and tools in the workspace.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety regulations, while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Carry out additional related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • A minimum of three years of relevant machining experience, with the ability to work independently in a team setting. CNC CENTERLESS GRINDING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
  • Capability to perform machine setups.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.
  • Proficient in machine shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
  • Experience in effectively implementing lean initiatives.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Ability to interpret reports and utilize job-specific software applications. Familiarity with employee self-service systems for accessing online information and using specialized automated systems.
  • Demonstrated competencies as a team member, actively participating in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
