Role Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Acute Care Nursing Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-focused care. Collaborating with medical professionals, the RN will provide pre-operative and post-operative support while advocating for patients to ensure an exceptional healthcare experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patient conditions upon admission and throughout each shift, promptly reporting any changes.
  • Execute procedures as directed by medical providers.
  • Document care provided in the patient medical record accurately and timely.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient responses.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment relevant to cardiac and medical-surgical care.
Qualifications Required:
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enrollment in a BSN program with completion within five years of hire.
  • Preferred Education: Master’s degree in Nursing.
  • Licensure: Current RN license with the North Carolina Board of Nursing; eNLC license may apply.
  • Certification: BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Preferred Certification: National certification in a specialty area.
  • Experience: One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
