Key Responsibilities

The Surgical Instrument Sterilization Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficacy of our surgical instruments. Responsibilities include:

  • Gathering used and potentially contaminated tools and materials for thorough cleaning and decontamination.
  • Manually scrubbing instruments to remove any contaminants.
  • Operating and maintaining decontamination machinery.
  • Preparing and packaging cleaned items for the sterilization process.
  • Carefully inspecting items to confirm they are sanitized and ready for use.
  • Regularly testing sterilization equipment and reporting any malfunctions.
  • Organizing, sterilizing, and preparing instrument trays for surgical procedures.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of all necessary tools and equipment for operations.
  • Keeping accurate records of sterilization activities, equipment upkeep, and inventory.
  • Monitoring stock levels and supplies.
  • Performing additional related tasks as required.
Qualifications
  • A High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Certification in Sterile Processing and Distribution is preferred but not essential.
