Transforming the Delivery Experience

Amazon is seeking a talented Software Development Engineer II to join our Last Mile Delivery Assistance Technologies team. As a key member of our project team, you will have the opportunity to solve a huge everyday problem through innovative technologies that transform and disrupt an entire industry.

We are looking for a skilled software developer who will help us build next-generation in-vehicle experiences for Amazon delivery associates. You will contribute to the customer experience, design, and architecture of the system at scale.

The in-vehicle delivery app works in concert with our advanced logistics systems and guides associates through their deliveries with integrated mapping, navigation, and safety solutions. You will work with our product management team to develop the strategy, followed by architecture and implementation of critical in-vehicle driver experience features.

You will own software in all phases of the software life-cycle from architecture and design through deployment and release. You will learn about Amazon's logistics network, interact with other teams to build optimized systems, and have autonomy to deliver software which impacts multiple delivery provider programs.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Experience with Android development and a strong understanding of the Android ecosystem
  • Experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, Kinesis)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
