Key Responsibilities
The Certified Respiratory Care Specialist will be responsible for delivering comprehensive respiratory care services, which include:
- Administering a range of respiratory therapy techniques, such as mechanical ventilation, nebulization, humidification, and oxygen therapy.
- Conducting sputum inductions and performing necessary suctioning procedures while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Educating patients and their families on self-care practices related to respiratory health, ensuring proper documentation in patient records.
- Providing necessary equipment to patients while following strict infection control protocols.
- Responding promptly to emergency situations, including cardiac arrest alarms, to ensure adequate patient ventilation.
- Utilizing knowledge from related fields to evaluate and execute patient care procedures effectively, maintaining high standards of quality control and patient management.
- Upholding ethical standards in all interactions, treating patients and colleagues with respect and integrity.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or equivalent licensure.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of recent experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in a clinical environment is required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach overhead throughout the work shift.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs from floor to waist and carrying up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to push or pull with a force of up to 30 lbs.
