We are currently seeking a full-time, permanent Cloud Security Analyst – Tier 3 to join our skilled and dynamic team in support of a significant Federal Government client.


In the role of Cloud Security Analyst – Tier 3, you will be instrumental in protecting the digital assets of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and addressing potential cyber threats.

Your main responsibility will be to assist the Incident Response team in the investigation and mitigation of advanced and intricate cyber incidents.

Responsibilities:


• Collaborate with the detection engineering team to implement and operationalize new cloud detection tools, including Azure Sentinel, AWS Guard Duty, and Netskope CASB.

• Develop incident response playbooks for cloud environments.

• Lead and engage in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of Tier 3 and escalated cybersecurity incidents. Assess attack patterns, identify root causes, and propose appropriate remediation strategies to avert future incidents.


• Act as a cloud subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to Tier 1 and Tier 2 analysts during investigations.

• Ensure comprehensive and precise documentation of incident response activities, including analyses, actions taken, and lessons learned. Work with knowledge management teams to keep incident response playbooks current.

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including forensics, threat intelligence, IT, and network administration. Clearly communicate technical information and updates related to incidents to management and stakeholders.

• Develop and implement advanced security analytics use cases to detect and respond to sophisticated cyber threats in real-time.


• Regularly monitor the performance of security analytics and automation processes, identifying areas for enhancement and taking proactive measures to improve their effectiveness.


• Utilize Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) platforms to streamline and automate incident response processes, including enrichment, containment, and remediation actions.

• Support the mentoring and training of junior incident response staff.

• Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and best practices. Actively participate in cybersecurity exercises, drills, and simulations to enhance incident response capabilities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

• 5+ years of experience in supporting large-scale IT projects.


• 3+ years of experience in incident response within an enterprise-level Security Operations Center (SOC), including monitoring cloud environments.


• A thorough understanding of cybersecurity principles, incident response methodologies, and a proactive approach to ensure effective SOC operations in high-pressure situations.

• Industry certifications such as CISSP, GCIH, GCFA, CEH, or equivalent are highly desirable.

• Strong experience with security technologies, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and network monitoring tools.

• Familiarity with enterprise ticketing systems like ServiceNow.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.


• Capability to work independently and collaboratively to identify errors, determine root causes, and devise solutions with minimal oversight.

• Ability to learn and adapt to multiple roles quickly.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
