Key Responsibilities

Under the guidance of a licensed nurse, you will provide essential care to residents, adhering to our organization's principles and standards of home health support. Your role will involve:

  • Assisting residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
  • Encouraging residents to maintain as much independence as possible in their care.
  • Accurately documenting care provided in the resident's health records.
  • Adhering to safety and infection control protocols.
  • Ensuring that resident care is delivered in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe living environment for residents.
  • Performing assigned housekeeping tasks.
  • Responding promptly to resident requests for assistance.
  • Communicating effectively with residents, families, and team members to foster a positive environment.
  • Notifying the nurse of any changes in resident condition or needs.
  • Participating in training and educational opportunities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with one to three months of relevant experience or training. Previous experience in a healthcare environment is preferred but not mandatory. A certificate confirming completion of a 75-hour home health aide training program is required.

Certifications and Licenses
Depending on state regulations, current state certifications may be required to maintain compliance.

Decision-Making and Management
This role involves making routine decisions based on established guidelines, with limited independent judgment. Issues are typically resolved by following clear instructions or consulting a supervisor.

Skills and Knowledge
Candidates should possess basic skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions. A foundational understanding of the organization is necessary to address basic inquiries. Effective communication in English with residents, families, and colleagues is essential. The ability to apply common sense in executing instructions and seeking help in emergencies is crucial.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity for handling tasks
  • Reaching and climbing as necessary
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Interaction with residents, coworkers, and vendors
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends, evenings, or nights as needed
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases and other health risks
