Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct patient care, assess outcomes, and collaborate with specialists as necessary to optimize patient health.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments on patients of all ages, including adolescents and the elderly, and perform regular reassessments as per established protocols.
- Evaluate and manage pain, providing education to patients and their families on pain management strategies.
- Exhibit proficiency in cardiac monitoring and identify any dysrhythmias.
- Assist physicians with clinical procedures while maintaining strict medical and surgical asepsis.
- Ensure the cleanliness and functionality of medical equipment, including the disinfection and sterilization of instruments.
- Handle patient inquiries professionally and direct issues to the appropriate healthcare provider.
- Treat all patients and their families with dignity and respect, addressing their psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
- Apply knowledge of growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate care tailored to individual patient needs.
- Engage with patients and families in the care planning process, ensuring their involvement and understanding.
- Develop and implement educational plans based on identified learning needs, including family members in the teaching process as appropriate.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medications and their administration based on patient age and clinical status.
- Understand laboratory requirements and manage requisitions effectively.
- Adhere to established clinic policies, procedures, and safety standards, including infection control measures.
- Plan and execute nursing care in accordance with physician orders.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and their families, in line with clinic standards.
- Manage inventory of supplies and ensure all equipment is functioning properly.
- Contribute to cost containment efforts through prudent ordering and conservation of resources.
- Collaborate with colleagues to achieve clinic objectives and maintain positive working relationships.
- Stay informed about healthcare plans and procedural costs.
- Assist physicians during office procedures as needed.
- Supervise medical assistants and phlebotomists, providing orientation for new staff members.
- Engage in professional development through educational programs, literature review, and workshops, taking responsibility for ongoing education.
- Demonstrate flexibility and organizational skills while managing stressful situations.
- Remain aware of current laws and regulations governing healthcare delivery.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Current LPN license in the state of Kansas.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
