Real Estate Financial Controller

The Financial Controller is responsible for leading the strategic development and execution of accounting initiatives within the organization. This role is crucial in overseeing various accounting projects and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and best practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as the primary expert in establishing objectives, processes, and best practices for financial management in collaboration with relevant teams.
- Prepare and manage investor draw requests and financial forecasts.
- Oversee cash management and cash flow forecasting for development entities.
- Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets and maintain financial records.
- Review and prepare combined quarterly financial forecasts.
- Authorize all wire transfers and corporate check requests.
- Prepare year-end financial statements and liaise with auditors during the audit process.
- Manage the distribution of investor checks and maintain accurate records for all entities.
- Review all general ledgers related to development projects.
- Serve as a signatory on all bank accounts.
- Administer accounting software and lead software projects and upgrades.
- Supervise the Accounts Payable process and ensure timely payments.
- Conduct performance reviews for department staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least seven years of relevant accounting experience or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge.
- Experience with MRI Software and Nexus is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Strong understanding of financial analysis and development accounting.
- Experience in real estate, particularly with Opportunity Zones, is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain composure under pressure.
- Self-motivated with strong leadership and teamwork capabilities.
- Detail-oriented with a logical approach to problem-solving.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Flexibility in work hours may be required to meet project deadlines and attend special events.
