Purpose and Scope

This position is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic echocardiograph ultrasound examinations efficiently and accurately while adhering to all appropriate company policies, procedures, and risk management guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform echocardiograph examinations following established policy, procedure, and risk management guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and other medical staff.
  • Communicate specific problem areas regarding any procedures by obtaining a thorough patient history and sharing this information with the reading physician to ensure a quality diagnostic exam.
  • Interact professionally with clients and reading physicians to ensure the utmost quality diagnostic images.
  • Communicate in a tactful and professional manner with patients and their families, offering a complete and thorough explanation of the procedure being performed.
  • Procure statistical information for daily activity sheets and forward to the operations office as requested.
  • Safely operate ultrasound equipment, including CD/DVD, client computer systems/PACs, and related peripheral and photographic equipment, by following established protocol.
  • Assist with ACR and IAC accreditation processes as needed.
  • Adhere to quality control and safety regulations as dictated by current established programs.
  • Participate in quality assessment and improvement processes to ensure optimum continuous quality improvement of care to the patient.
Qualifications
  • Degree from an accredited school of Medical Sonography.
  • Cardiac registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDCS) or registration from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or registry eligible.
  • Previous experience with Echocardiography in a hospital setting a plus.
  • Ability to perform transthoracic echocardiograms.
  • Ability to perform stress echo exams a plus.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Favorable results of pre-employment background checks, including FBI fingerprinting and child abuse clearances, required, as well as a pre-employment drug screen.
