Job Summary:

This position is a full-time exempt (salary) role supporting the JBLM-Mission Training Complex (MTC). The successful candidate will provide network oversight of the Network Team, coordinating all aspects of the communications architecture and exercise support plans with communications planners at other simulation facilities, the JBLM Network Enterprise Center (NEC), and participating tactical units.

Responsibilities:

The Network Engineer shall act as the overall communications architect for the MTC, coordinating with outside agencies and other MTC branches. Key responsibilities include creating/establishing communications architecture, coordinating communications plans, configuring communications equipment, and assisting in installing equipment and circuitry in support of distributed training exercises. The Network Engineer will also coordinate all aspects of the communications architecture and exercise support plans with communications planners at other simulation facilities, the JBLM Network Enterprise Center (NEC), and participating tactical units. Plans include distribution of data, voice, and VTC over both LAN and WAN in both classified and unclassified modes for simulations/stimulation networks; NIPRNET, SIPRNET, and tactical networks.

Working Conditions:

This position is based in an office environment with occasional outdoor work. The successful candidate will be required to lift 25 lbs. or more (pending on type of equipment) and may be required to travel as needed. The work week is Monday-Friday, with hours of 0730 - 1630 (may vary based on mission requirements). Overtime may be required as needed.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a minimum BA or BS degree in Network management or a related field and a minimum of 8 years' experience in Network architecture design and implementation. The ideal candidate will possess advanced planning, troubleshooting, and maintenance skills on the Microsoft server platform and CISCO router, switch, and firewall configuration and SONET configuration/architecture. A strong understanding of technology integration and information flow, including LAN/WAN, firewalls, security, storage, and backup methodologies, is also required. Knowledge of specific product lines (Cisco, Fujitsu, Hewlett Packard, Tripwire) is a plus. The successful candidate must possess an Information Assurance Technical II (IAT II) baseline certificate in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, SSCP, CySA+, GICSP, or GSEC) and a Top-Secret clearance. Secret clearance may also be considered. Achieving computing environment (CE) certification (e.g., CCENT, CCNA, CCNP, etc.) within 6 months of employment is also a requirement. Experience in troubleshooting and supporting Cisco hardware is highly desirable.
