About the Role

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Journeyman to join our team at Carrier, a leading global provider of healthy, safe, and sustainable building and cold chain solutions. As a Journeyman, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional service to our customers, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction. Your expertise in Commercial HVAC will be essential in working on a variety of installations, repairs, and maintenance projects, both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical malfunctions, providing recommendations for improvement
  • Perform regular maintenance on heating and cooling units to ensure optimal performance
  • Install, replace, or repair equipment, including calibration of thermostatic controls and repair or replacement of worn parts
  • Assemble and install metal ductwork, ensuring precise fit and function
  • Assist in planning and designing new installations of heating and air-conditioning systems, providing estimates of materials required
  • Repair and replace damaged parts and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams to identify and address issues
  • Recognize and mitigate risks and safety hazards commonly found in HVAC operations, maintaining a safe working environment
  • Escalate or elevate situations requiring guidance or additional support to supervisors or managers
  • Participate in all required safety training and maintain valid and current licenses and certifications
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A minimum of 5+ years of practical working experience in the HVAC industry
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • The ability to lift 50lbs or more and stand, crawl, sit, or squat for extended periods
  • A valid and current driver's license, insurable by the company's insurance carrier
  • Willingness to join the union or be part of the union
  • Ability to travel in excess of 50% of the typical workweek, including overnight hotel stays and unexpected travel
Preferred Qualifications

While not required, experience with building automation controls, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in Salesforce and ServiceMax are highly valued. Additionally, passing an examination regarding the abilities and know-how of Building Trades Journeyman, conducted by an Examining Board, may be required for this role.
