Job Title:

Speech-Language Therapist Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech-Language Therapist Assistant to join our team at Kansas City Public Schools. The successful candidate will provide students with speech and language services to enable them to reach their maximum communication potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement student Individual Education Plans (IEPs) as designed by the supervising Speech-Language Therapist.
  • Establish schedules for assigned students according to service minutes established in the IEP.
  • Implement an IEP and other supporting paperwork for each student within mandated timelines.
  • Complete all required forms for Medicaid billing, including therapy logs, progress reports, and physician recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit logs on Medicaid students to the Exceptional Education office monthly.
  • Update and submit Caseload Summary report monthly with logs.
  • Attend scheduled staff developments and perform other miscellaneous professional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Requires Missouri Board of Healing Arts Licensure or Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech/Language Hearing Association.
  • Must have a license through the Board of HA to practice as an SLP in Missouri. CCCs from ASHA are optional but preferred.

This job requires that the employee be able to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, lift objects of at least ten pounds; visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Terms of Employment:

Length of work year: 7.5 hours per day; 5 days/week; 205 day calendar. Health and Dental Insurance are provided. KCPS Defined Benefit Pension plan - mandatory 9% contribution is required from employee and matched by KCPS; Voluntary retirement savings plans are also available.
