Laboratory Research Assistant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team at Washington State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing samples, setting up microbiologic assays, and performing data entry and results entry using our laboratory information management system (LIMS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Process samples and set up microbiologic assays for the detection of pathogenic bacteria
- Perform data entry and results entry using LIMS
- Perform routine laboratory maintenance duties such as autoclaving biohazardous waste, restocking supplies, and making reagents/media
Requirements:
- Completion of an approved course for laboratory assistants or two years of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience
- Ability to work overtime and rotate on weekend duty/holidays, if necessary
Preferred Qualifications:
- One or more years of microbiology lab experience
- Experience with medical or laboratory database
Working Conditions:
This is a permanent position, 100% FTE, and overtime eligible. The successful candidate will work in a BSL-2 laboratory environment and be required to follow BSL-2 laboratory safety guidelines.
