Composite Mechanic

Are you ready to take on a challenging role in the rail industry? Alstom is seeking a skilled Composite Mechanic to join our team in East Venura, CA. This position is unionized and requires membership in the union organization.

This role is responsible for servicing, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing rail equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic activities, and be knowledgeable in rail equipment systems and sub-systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and understand project/activity requests, safety instructions, blueprints, and schematics to ascertain test specifications, procedures, and objectives.
• Dismantle, assemble, and replace new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for products such as HVAC, brake, pneumatic systems, propulsion equipment, and truck and car body equipment.
• Analyze sub-systems to meet design or rated specifications and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications in a timely fashion.
• Record activities performed on appropriate report cards or data sheets, indicating all relevant information.
• Perform quality tests and verification to ensure safe performance of sub-assemblies or components.
• May be required to train and qualify as a class four train operator to move rail equipment within the yard limits.
• Additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in construction, maintenance, or warehouse work is a plus but not required.
• Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, sometimes up to 50 pounds.
• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
