Head Lifeguard

The Town of Warrenton is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Lifeguard to join our Aquatic Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting with the recruitment, training, and supervision of lifeguards, as well as maintaining records of aquatics staff certifications.

1. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to Town staff, vendors, citizens, and other visitors.
2. Support Aquatic Programs: Assist Water Safety Instructors as needed and support recreational programs.
3. Pool Safety: Adhere to and enforce all pool rules to secure the safety of patrons.
4. Shift Supervision: Serve as shift supervisor for lifeguards.
5. Maintenance and Operations: Perform maintenance duties such as power washing pool decks and changing pool filters to maintain an operational facility.
6. Reporting and Record-Keeping: Prepare and maintain appropriate activity reports, including daily checklists, and complete all required forms relating to facility incidents/accidents.
7. Chemical Pool Readings: Perform regularly scheduled chemical pool readings, adjust setpoints when needed, backwash the pools, and weekly spa cleaning.
8. Training and Development: Maintain skills by performing mandatory monthly fitness swims and/or training exercises and assist in running in-service trainings.
9. Additional Duties: Perform assorted job-related duties as assigned by the Aquatics Supervisor and/or Aquatics Coordinator.

• Knowledge and Skills: General knowledge of aquatics, water safety rules, first aid practices, and techniques; ability to enforce rules in a tactful and effective manner; ability to effectively lead an aquatic team; ability to remain calm under pressure/stress/in emergency situations; ability to always present a professional appearance and attitude; ability to use a computer; effective communication skills; time management skills.
• Education and Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age; must possess current American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid certification; current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer; current Waterpark Certification (or the ability to obtain within 2 weeks of hire); current Administering Emergency Oxygen (or the ability to obtain within 2 weeks of hire); AFO/CPO preferred; WSI preferred.
• Special Requirements: Must possess satisfactory results of a criminal history background check and CPS Registry check.
