Building Permit Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Permit Technician to join our team at Greene County, OH. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for processing building permit applications, plan submittals, and inspection scheduling, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Accepts, analyzes, and processes a variety of permit applications and specialized documents, determining accurate construction categories and classifications.
- Provides information on building permitting and plan review processes to developers, contractors, property owners, and the public.
- Prepares and issues residential and commercial building permits, certificates of occupancy, and other related documents.
- Reviews and calculates building, heating, and electrical permits for processing, ensuring correct permit charges have been applied.
- Enters permit data into computer systems for accurate record keeping and easy retrieval.
- Schedules inspection requests and coordinates with inspection supervisors, local fire, health, plumbing, and zoning departments.
- Coordinates and forwards gas and electric releases to utilities departments.
- Processes daily receipts and transfers pay-in to the Treasurer's Office.
- Issues final certificates of occupancy and processes daily and outgoing mail of permits and plans.
- Maintains filing systems for new building permits and prepares correspondence to request information from residential contractors.
- Assists office employees as needed during employee absences or heavy workloads.
- Prepares GIS and FEMA floodway maps.
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.)
- 36 months of experience in administrative support and customer service experience or related field of construction office experience
- Valid Ohio Driver's License
As a full-time permanent employee of Greene County, you will be eligible for a wide variety of benefits, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, optional life insurance plans, wellness program, employee assistance program, and deferred compensation plans.
The County pays 80% of the health care premium and 39% of the dental premium. All full-time employees are eligible for $50,000 group life insurance paid 100% by the County.
