We are seeking a highly accomplished Research Scientist to join our team at the Versiti Blood Research Institute. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of scientific accomplishment, a demonstrated ability to sustain extramural funding, and a recognized impact on their scientific field. The ideal candidate will be an expert in hematopoiesis, with a deep understanding of the complex processes involved in blood cell development.

• Develop and implement a fundable research program in hematopoiesis
• Obtain funding from external sources to support research initiatives
• Hold a faculty appointment at a local university or medical school
• Maintain an active scientific publications record
• Contribute to the growth and viability of our science and technology programs
• Mentor pre- and postdoctoral fellows and research scientists
• Supervise and manage laboratory staff
• Train and direct research staff
• Direct laboratory meetings and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Manage grant administration and budget responsibilities
• Perform other duties as assigned

• PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field
• Established track record of scientific accomplishment
• Demonstrated success in sustaining extramural funding
• Recognized impact on their scientific field
• History of successful mentoring of postdoctoral fellows and graduate students
• Eligible to hold a university faculty appointment at the level of Associate Professor

• Demonstrated ability to establish effective collaborations with scientific colleagues
• Ability to independently apply scientific theory to research experiments
• Ability to interpret and explain the theoretical basis of research work
• Immediate proficiency in basic and sophisticated tests and procedures in the scientific field
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills
• Strong detail orientation and analytical ability
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Ability to supervise, coordinate, and plan the work of several individuals involved in a project
• Computer literacy with an emphasis on graphics, graphing, data management, and statistical applications
