Job Title: Warehouse Clerk and Forklift Driver

At Peninsula Steel Inc, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Warehouse Clerk and Forklift Driver to join our team. As a key member of our warehouse operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of materials and products throughout our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and Maintain Forklifts: Safely operate and maintain industrial forklifts to move materials and products around the warehouse and plant facilities.
  • Support Plant Operations: Assist in the overall plant operations by moving components and equipment throughout the plant.
  • Boxing and Labeling: Box and label products for distribution, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • Loading and Unloading: Load and unload materials into trucks using forklifts for shipping and receiving.
  • Material Handling: Push and pull carts and dollies with material, sort and pack material for delivery, and ensure cleanliness of cargo areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Inspect Cargo Areas: Regularly inspect cargo areas for cleanliness and condition.
  • Move Materials: Safely move materials, equipment, or supplies as needed.
  • Load Shipments: Load shipments, belongings, or materials onto vehicles or equipment.
  • Operate Vehicles: Operate vehicles or material-moving equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Position Equipment: Position material handling equipment as required.
  • Secure Cargo: Ensure cargo is securely loaded and unloaded.
  • Mark Materials: Mark materials or objects for identification.
  • Weigh Materials: Weigh materials to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Clean Vehicles: Clean vehicles or vehicle components as needed.
  • Maintain Vehicles: Maintain vehicles in good working condition.
  • Training and Support: Participate in the training process of entry-level employees and provide support to create, edit, or file product invoices.
  • Packing and Processing: Operate packing or other material processing equipment.
  • Material Coordination: Coordinate material handling or movement.
  • Equipment Installation: Install parts, assemblies, or attachments in handling equipment.
  • Lifting Devices: Move levers or controls that operate lifting devices.
  • Inspect Product Load: Inspect product load for accuracy and safely move it.
  • Load or Unload Materials: Manually or mechanically load or unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.
  • Position Lifting Devices: Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets.
  • Weigh Materials: Weigh materials or products and record weight or other production data on tags or labels.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on vehicles or auxiliary equipment.
  • Machine Operation: Operate or tend automatic stacking, loading, packaging, or cutting machines.
  • Signal Workers: Signal workers to discharge, dump, or level materials.
Education and Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required.
  • Certifications: Certifications, such as OSHEA standards, are desired.
Work Experience Requirements:
  • Forklift Operator Experience: Experience as a forklift operator is required.
  • Certification: Certification by OSHEA standards is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-standard equipment is required.
  • Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of safety procedures is required.
Skills:
  • Attention to Detail: A high degree of attention to detail is required.
  • Timeliness and Safety: Timely and safe completion of tasks is required.
  • Computer Skills: Computer skills, including data entry and Microsoft Office, are required.
