Job Overview

As a Paraprofessional Support Specialist, you will provide critical support to teachers and students in an elementary school setting. Your role will involve assisting with instruction, managing classroom behavior, and advocating for students with disabilities.

  • Support teachers in delivering instruction and support to students in various educational settings.
  • Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning concepts and promote academic growth.
  • Implement behavior management strategies as directed by the teacher to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assist with classroom organization and management of materials to ensure a smooth learning experience.
  • Provide instructional assistance in areas such as reading, writing, math, and other subjects to support student learning.
  • Support students with special needs, including physical, emotional, or learning disabilities, to ensure their academic and personal growth.
  • Supervise students during non-instructional periods, such as lunch, recess, and field trips, to promote a safe and supportive environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to support the overall educational goals of the school.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of educational principles and practices beneficial.

Certifications:

  • Certified to be a Paraprofessional in the state of Georgia.
  • Certification must be maintained through continuing education as outlined by the Georgia State Board of Education.
