The Trauma Program Nursing Supervisor will oversee the management of healthcare services for all trauma patients throughout their acute and ongoing care phases.
This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary trauma team to cultivate a care philosophy that emphasizes quality service, including the creation of educational initiatives related to the treatment of critically injured individuals.
The Trauma Program Nursing Supervisor will liaise closely with the Trauma Services Medical Director, hospital medical staff, leadership, and pre-hospital care providers to ensure seamless coordination of all facets of the trauma program and continuous education for staff and the community.
In this leadership position, the Nursing Supervisor will guide the strategic direction and effective functioning of the Trauma program.
The responsibilities of the Trauma Program Nursing Supervisor will encompass:
- Program development and objective setting
- Staff management and clinical oversight
- Research and outreach initiatives
The Trauma Program Nursing Supervisor will maintain regular communication with other department managers, directors, hospitalists, and medical directors.
In this role, the RN Supervisor will act as a:
- Coordinator (clinical role model and consultant)
- Educator
- Evaluator
Collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department will be essential to provide cohesive leadership to the team and program.
This position is integral to the management team, necessitating attendance at leadership meetings.
The ideal candidate for the Trauma Program Nursing Supervisor role will possess an MSN degree and have a minimum of 2 years' experience as a Trauma Coordinator or Trauma Manager, or direct experience with Trauma ED/ICU patients in a verified trauma center.
Additionally, the Trauma Program Nursing Supervisor should have at least 5 years of recent nursing experience in trauma systems/care, emergency departments, critical care, or flight medicine. TNCC certification is required, while CEN certification is preferred.
