Ophthalmic Technician

Vision Republic Pllc is a new Optometric Practice seeking a Part-Time Ophthalmic Technician to join our team in the Morton Ranch area of Katy. Our mission is to provide exceptional patient care and a wholesome experience for every individual. We strive to be better every day, take on challenges, and expand our knowledge in the field.

Requirements:

• High School degree or Equivalent required.
• Fluent in Spanish language required.
• Quick learner with ability to perform multiple duties.
• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant and 1-2 years of related experience preferred.
• Positive attitude and willingness to succeed in our mission.
• Preferred 1+ year experience with EMR/EHR and specifically Revolution360.

Cross-trained Duties:

• Follow patient check-in procedures.
• Perform preliminary tests and disinfect examination room in preparation for doctor's exam.
• Schedule patients over the phone.
• Inventory and optical sales.

Responsibilities:

• Follow patient check-out procedures.
• Process patient's fee slip and schedule next appointment.
• Collect payment and submit vision insurance claims to VSP, UNUM Vision, Eyemed.
• Assist first-time contact lens wearers with insertion and removal.
• Answer phone in a professional manner and make appointments.
• Assist patients in selecting eyewear based on prescription, lifestyle needs, and facial features.
• Be knowledgeable about Vision and Medical benefits to help patients understand insurance and maximize savings.
• Adjust, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on patient's eyewear.
• Contact patients when eyewear is ready.
• Place eyeglass and contact lens orders to the lab or vision insurance carrier.
