Job Summary

Assists in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures, including coronary angiography, pacemaker implantation, and aortic stenosis studies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Positions patients and selects exposure factors accurately.
  • Utilizes radiation protection and safety standards, applying the ALARA principle to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Assists physicians in imaging procedures, including preparing and administering contrast media and medications within accepted scope of practice and regulations.
  • Documents evaluation results, progress reports, treatment plans, and other data using appropriate formats and systems.
  • Calculates hemodynamic or physiologic values and records waveforms for patient records.
  • Assists physicians in performing common catheterization interventions, including stent placements, balloon angioplasties, and electrophysiology tests.
  • Operates intracardiac or intravascular ultrasound equipment, fluoroscopy equipment, or other imaging systems.
  • Inserts venous and arterial catheters and wires through a needle into the blood vessels and into the heart for X-ray, angiogram, and other recordings.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or higher in Science required upon hire.
  • RT(R) - Registered as a Radiological Technologist in Radiology required upon hire.
  • ROC - Radiation Operator Certification in the state of Kentucky required upon hire.
  • BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment.

Physical Demands
  • Frequently standing, walking, and pushing/pulling 0-25 lbs.

  • Rarely lifting over 75 lbs, carrying 25-75 lbs, and pushing/pulling over 75 lbs.
