Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on facilities, equipment, or machinery.
  • Assemble, install, and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, physical structures, and fixtures as they relate to stationary diesel engines.
  • Diagnose problems and determine corrective solutions, referring to and/or adhering to blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools and reassemble equipment.
  • Maintain parts, supplies, and equipment; advising the supervisor and submitting requisitions when parts or supplies need to be ordered.
  • Maintain related records concerning time, labor, and materials; maintain a log of tasks performed and write reports as necessary.
  • Resolve and complete work orders; work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate general knowledge of diesel engine operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate the specific tools used in the area of expertise, including related tools and equipment such as common hand and power tools, hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the following systems/equipment: stationary diesel engines, fuel filtration systems, fuel transfer systems, and related alarm systems.
