Overview:
The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering direct patient care within the Medical-Surgical unit, addressing a wide range of medical and surgical patient needs. The RN plays a crucial role in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough patient assessments and create tailored care plans.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed by physicians.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs, symptoms, and overall progress.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding health conditions, treatment options, and self-care practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all patient interactions and care in electronic health records (EHR).
- Respond promptly to patient needs, delivering compassionate care in a dynamic environment.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols diligently.
- Engage in patient discharge planning and ensure follow-up care is in place.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Valid RN license in the state of [MN].
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is advantageous.
