Residential Counselor

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Counselor to join our team at Elk Hill Farm Inc. As a key member of our residential program, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and therapeutic environment for our youth.

• Provide individualized support and guidance to youth in a group home setting, promoting positive behavior and personal growth.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with youth, families, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and effective treatment team.
• Participate in ongoing supervision and training to enhance your skills and knowledge in youth development and mental health.
• Assist in the development and implementation of individualized service plans, ensuring that each youth receives tailored support and care.
• Collaborate with colleagues to plan and facilitate group activities, community service projects, and other initiatives that promote youth engagement and development.
• Provide medication administration and medical support as needed, ensuring the health and well-being of our youth.
• Document and maintain accurate records of youth progress, behavior, and treatment plans.

• At least six months of experience working with children with mental health diagnoses, preferably in a residential care or clinical setting.
• Successful experience and demonstrated competence in working with youth in a group home or other residential setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with youth, families, and colleagues.
• Knowledge and understanding of cultural diversity and the impact of various socioeconomic characteristics on our youth.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record (note: those without a valid driver's license or approved driving record will not be allowed to drive on behalf of Elk Hill).

• High-School Diploma or equivalent.
• Up-to-date certification in the facility's Behavior Management Program.
• Valid certification in approved courses for CPR/First Aid.
• Valid certificate in an approved medication aide training class.

• Good physical health and ability to remain current with annual TB screening and other certifications.
• Ability to physically perform all functions of the facility's Behavior Management Program.
• Ability to traverse inside and outside of the property, including uneven terrain.

• Periodic transportation of a client as needed or required.
