PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

The role of the Sales Associate I is to support The Salvation Army in managing the operations of the Thrift Store for the Reno Adult Rehabilitation Program. This job description outlines the key responsibilities associated with this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Organize, clean, and prepare merchandise, operate the cash register, and complete daily documentation.
  2. Accountable for the keys to open and/or close the store.
  3. Maintain positive customer relations by providing prompt and courteous assistance to all patrons.
  4. Answer phone calls in a professional manner and direct inquiries to the appropriate department.
  5. Ensure the store's appearance is tidy and well-organized.
  6. Perform cleaning duties, including window washing, vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, and restroom maintenance, as assigned by management.
  7. Carry out additional tasks as directed by the Store Manager or Assistant Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Ability to handle cash transactions, make change, and operate the cash register.
  2. Capable of following instructions and executing tasks with minimal supervision.
  3. Familiarity with merchandise is preferred.
  4. Previous experience in retail is advantageous.
  5. Ability to establish good rapport with customers.
  6. Strong time management and multitasking skills are essential.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

  1. Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver License and have the ability to operate a Salvation Army vehicle.
  2. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  3. Completion of The Salvation Army vehicle training course is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
  3. Ability to reach overhead.
  4. Ability to operate a telephone.
  5. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a non-continuous basis.
  6. Ability to operate a computer.
  7. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
  8. Ability to use basic office equipment and tools.
