Position Overview: Edmund Burke School is in search of a dynamic, organized, and passionate Music Educator with a specialization in vocal performance and general music education. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys engaging with adolescents and is eager to join our dedicated faculty.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruct middle and high school music classes that are both intellectually stimulating and enjoyable, potentially including year-long or trimester-long courses.
- Establish clear curricular objectives and develop assessments that ensure student accountability for their academic progress, while grading fairly and efficiently.
- Collaborate with fellow performing arts faculty to coordinate community performances, including assemblies and special events.
- Act as a student advisor, providing guidance and support to a small group of students.
- Participate in chaperoning school trips and bonding activities.
- Attend departmental, team, and faculty meetings regularly.
- Respond promptly to communications, typically within 48 hours.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practices.
- Contribute to the teacher duty schedule as required.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in music or a related discipline.
- Exceptional communication skills, sound judgment, and emotional intelligence.
