Your Role:

The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for executing all essential routine respiratory care tasks associated with acute or critically ill patients across neonatal, pediatric, or adult demographics. This role requires the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include initiating and sustaining appropriate therapies, including life support techniques and equipment. The therapist provides preventive, supportive, and corrective interventions related to the cardio-pulmonary system in designated patient care areas, adhering to established hospital and departmental protocols, as well as all relevant regulations and standards. The position demands the application of knowledge and skills to foster effective interactions with staff, patients, and families of all ages. Competency in all relevant advanced clinical skills must be demonstrated and consistently maintained. A commitment to outstanding customer service and the ability to cultivate respectful relationships is essential. Compliance with AdventHealth's Corporate Compliance Plan and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations is mandatory.

Your Contributions to the Team:

· Upholds professional and technical expertise by actively seeking knowledge and self-improvement, staying informed about current trends and advancements in respiratory care management and healthcare delivery, including the latest technologies and practices to enhance patient outcomes.
· Responds promptly to all Code Blue emergencies, providing CPR in accordance with American Heart Association guidelines and performing additional duties as assigned. Responsibilities include airway maintenance, such as the proper use of manual resuscitators, insertion of oral and nasal pharyngeal airways, airway suctioning, intubation, extubation, assisting with tracheostomy insertions, performing tracheostomy tube changes, and supporting bronchoscopy procedures.
· Effectively utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, chart reviews, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to evaluate the effectiveness of therapy in a cost-effective and timely manner, making appropriate recommendations and adjustments as per departmental protocols. Conducts respiratory therapies and oxygen delivery therapies, recommending the most efficient delivery methods according to established protocols.
· Collects, analyzes, and reports findings from arterial blood gases and co-oximetry, including arterial line insertion and performing quality controls as necessary. Sets up and conducts oximetry, apnea, TC, and ETCO2 monitoring as ordered by the physician.
· Initiates, maintains, transports, and monitors mechanical ventilators, including both conventional and non-conventional modes of ventilation, in accordance with established policies and procedures. Reviews chest radiological reports as necessary, following supervisor guidance and departmental protocols.
