Job Title: SQL Server Database Administrator

Job Summary:

TIER4 GROUP is seeking a highly skilled SQL Server Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance SQL Server databases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Administration: Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage SQL Server Always On Availability Groups (AOAG) and other high availability solutions.
  • Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Ansible, and other tools to streamline database administration tasks.
  • Database Migrations: Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime.
  • Performance Tuning: Optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and resource management.
  • Backup and Recovery: Establish and implement backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity.
  • Security Management: Ensure database security by adhering to best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Monitoring and Maintenance: Proactively monitor production databases for performance, storage, and memory utilization, and manage automated alerts.
  • Collaboration: Work across teams to support application development, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Mentorship: Share knowledge and mentor junior team members.
  • Incident Response: Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 10+ years administrating SQL Server databases and MSBI components.
  • Technical Skills:
  • SQL Server AOAG expertise.
  • Advanced scripting (PowerShell, Ansible, etc.).
  • Experience with database migrations and upgrades.
  • MSBI components proficiency (SSAS, SSIS, SSRS).
  • Strong Windows Server administration skills.

Desired Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Hashicorp Vault or CyberArk for SQL Server access.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Jira for Agile feature creation.
  • Cloud experience (AWS, Azure) including RDS, Azure SQL Database.
  • Experience with database virtualization (Delphix).
  • Experience with ELK Stack, Dynatrace, SolarWinds DPA, PowerBI Gateway management.

Contract-to-Hire Possibility

  • Location: Franklin (hybrid schedule M, T, W); not open to remote.
  • Length of Contract: Through July 1, 2025 (with potential for permanent placement).

Technical Skills:

  • SQL expertise, including upgrades and migrations.
  • SQL Server AOAG experience.
  • PowerShell, Ansible, and/or Python experience.
