We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Scribe to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Medical Scribe, you will play a critical role in supporting our healthcare professionals by accurately documenting patient information and medical records.
Key Responsibilities- Documentation and Data Entry: Prepare and assemble medical record documentation/chart for physicians prior to patient visits. Anticipate physician needs by obtaining internal and external previous medical records and test results.
- Real-Time Documentation: Enter the patient room with the physician/clinician during patient visits to capture and transcribe medical record documentation in real-time using electronic medical record applications.
- Order Preparation and Follow-up: Prepare (pend) orders, including follow-up testing, lab orders, medication orders, consults, and referrals, and document the correct follow-up instructions and level of service designation based on the physician/clinician's direction.
- Medical Record Completion: Complete medical records for each encounter, ensuring accurate and timely documentation. Update patient history and other pertinent health information in the patient record under physician/clinician direction.
- Additional Responsibilities: May perform clinical functions such as preparing and rooming patients for exams, obtaining vital signs, documenting/updating pertinent health information, assisting physicians/clinicians with non-sterile procedures, scheduling appointments and referrals, and performing data entry into the EHR.
- Education: High School Graduate.
- Experience: Typically requires 1 year of experience in medical assisting, medical transcription, emergency medical services, patient service, and/or as a healthcare professional with demonstrated proficiency in medical terminology and technical spelling.
- Training and Certification: Successful completion of Aurora authorized medical scribe training course within 30 days of hire.
- Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to maintain sensitivity and confidentiality for patients, ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships, and proficiency in computer skills, including advanced keyboarding, above-average typing speed, navigation within a Windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.
