This role involves supporting the design, execution, and management of safety initiatives aimed at minimizing workplace hazards, injuries, and financial risks.
Essential Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent certification.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in overseeing health and safety programs within industrial settings, regulatory agencies, or related fields, or substantial operational experience with a strong emphasis on safety.
3. Possession of a valid state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Comprehensive understanding of health and safety regulations pertinent to the construction materials sector.
2. Familiarity with insurance and financial aspects related to health and safety programs.
3. Proficiency in software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools.
4. Knowledge of construction materials machinery and operations.
5. Extensive experience in training and development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the development, implementation, and coordination of safety programs to mitigate occupational hazards and financial losses.
2. Identify and assess potential risks that could lead to accidents or financial setbacks.
3. Conduct safety audits and inspections to detect hazards and evaluate the risk potential of various operations.
4. Aid in the creation of accident prevention and loss control strategies.
5. Ensure the execution of safety-related activities.
6. Participate in safety meetings and collaborate with team members.
7. Maintain knowledge of federal and state safety regulations, including OSHA, MSHA, and DOT.
8. Support incident investigations and reviews.
9. Monitor and report on lost-time injuries, workers' compensation claims, and other liability issues.
10. Prepare and lead weekly safety discussions.
11. Provide training for managers, supervisors, and team members on safety policies and procedures.
12. Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
13. Schedule and oversee random drug testing and health assessments.
14. Serve as a resource for field managers regarding safety matters.
15. Foster and maintain positive working relationships with other departments, including HR and management.
16. Perform additional duties as required.
