Mission:

The primary mission of this role is to uphold the effectiveness of the company's Quality Control programs to the utmost standard of excellence.
The Quality Control Technician for the Fitting Department is responsible for overseeing all quality aspects of in-process and final products, inspecting all materials within the Fitting area, Welding Area, Paint area, or yard.
This position also assists Supervisors, fitters, and the QC department in investigating customer claims related to the Fitting department.

*This position operates on a night shift*

Primary Functions and Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive dimensional inspections of structural steel components.
  • Reports any quality deficiencies in final products directly to the Fitters Supervisor.
  • Monitors and tracks quality deficiencies attributed to individual fitters.
  • Communicates directly with the QC Manager regarding any errors or issues and maintains daily records.
  • Ensures that Supervisors and Employees comprehend and adhere to the Quality Control Program.
  • Receives instructions from the QC Manager regarding project-specific inspections and tests, executing those tasks effectively.
  • Collaborates with various departments and external suppliers to address quality concerns.
  • Manages and conducts audits within the Detail Department.
  • Reviews and assists in product complaint investigations, supporting Supervisors in their inquiries.
  • Performs inspections on projects requiring specialized knowledge under the direct supervision of the Quality Control Manager.
  • Maintains the operation and calibration of inspection equipment.
  • Assists the Quality Control Manager in training fitters on processes.

Key Criteria/Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to multitask in a manufacturing environment to meet production demands.
  • Experience with evaluations related to quality and code compliance.
  • Proficient in using inspection tools and measuring equipment, including tape measures, squares, and micrometers.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints.
  • Experience with the GMAW welding process.
  • Capability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
