Job Title: Registered Nurse - Step Down Unit

Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our 9 Step Down unit, a 17-bed intermediate care unit that specializes in peritoneal dialysis.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care to patients requiring an intermediate level of care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients, including administering medications, performing procedures, and monitoring patient conditions.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients' conditions to ensure seamless care transitions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments, and note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs to ensure a smooth transition to home or other care settings.
  • Educate patients and their families on disease management, treatment options, and self-care techniques.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • One year of current acute care RN experience, or military RN experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Physical Requirements:

This role requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. The nurse must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, have corrected vision and hearing, and work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

This role also requires exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Personal Protective Equipment:

The nurse will follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
