Role Summary:
The Senior Revenue Accountant will play a vital role in managing the revenue accounting functions, ensuring adherence to GAAP and SEC regulations, and delivering precise financial data to facilitate informed business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Revenue Accounting:
Oversee and execute monthly revenue recognition activities in line with ASC 606. Review and analyze contracts to confirm appropriate revenue recognition practices.
Prepare and validate journal entries and account reconciliations associated with revenue and deferred revenue.
Financial Reporting:
Contribute to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and SEC filings. Work closely with external auditors during reviews and audits, supplying necessary documentation and clarifications.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of all revenue-related disclosures.
Process Enhancement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements to boost efficiency and accuracy in revenue accounting and reporting.
Establish and uphold internal controls over revenue accounting processes to ensure compliance with SOX.
Collaborate with various teams to optimize workflows and enhance the use of financial systems.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Conduct thorough analyses of revenue trends and variances, offering insights and recommendations to management.
Generate ad-hoc reports and analyses as needed to support business objectives and decision-making.
Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to revenue.
Team Leadership:
Mentor and guide junior accounting personnel, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
Assist in training team members on revenue recognition standards and practices.
Lead special projects associated with revenue accounting as required.
Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is essential.
CPA certification is highly desirable.
Experience:
A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting, ideally within the healthcare sector.
In-depth knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606, and SEC reporting standards.
Experience in a publicly traded organization is necessary.
Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are preferred.
Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.
Comprehensive understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance.
Proven ability to interpret complex contracts and determine suitable revenue recognition treatment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across various departments.
