Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Stylist in Training. This is a temporary 90-day position designed to identify top talent and integrate an unlicensed, future stylist into the salon workplace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market and grow the business by providing exceptional customer service and promoting services and retail products.
  • Observe and learn from top stylists and managers, asking relevant questions and seeking feedback.
  • Model the way for other stylists and set the pace by demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting each customer professionally, escorting them through the salon, and giving a tour when necessary.
  • Estimate wait times for scheduled and unscheduled appointments, and answer the telephone promptly and professionally.
  • Handle general complaints and refer customer service issues to the manager.
  • Follow weekly salon schedules as directed by the Salon Manager, and correctly charge for services rendered and products purchased.
  • Safeguard company assets by adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with management, customers, and co-workers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain and uphold safety standards by identifying and correcting conditions that affect salon safety.
  • Attend work timely and consistently, including attending mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Adhere to all corporate policies, procedures, and work rules.
  • Handle all POS transactions, including opening and closing the register.
Requirements
  • Must graduate from an accredited cosmetology school and obtain the necessary license(s) to perform salon services within or before 90 days of hire-date.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic salon environment, with good time management skills, good judgment, and the ability to multi-task.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to communicate in a professional and courteous manner with customers, co-workers, and management.
  • Computer knowledge, including but not limited to point-of-sale systems and data entry.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
Physical Requirements
  • Standing for sustained periods of time.
  • Frequent lifting up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds.
  • Continuous repetitive movement with fingers, hands, wrists, and arms.
  • Continuous grasping and reaching, often above shoulder level.
  • Ability to be exposed to various chemicals and fragrances used in performing services.
  • Ability to observe guest's hair, including close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to communicate with guest regarding services offered and requested and the guest's needs and wants.
