Job Title: Millwright - Red Dog Alaska & Tacoma

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Millwright to join our team at Foss Maritime Company. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair tasks on lighterage barges, as well as assisting in the fabrication of steel frames and inspecting conveyor systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Repair and maintenance of lighterage barge conveyor systems
  • Assist in overall maintenance and repair of barge systems, including parts, lubrication, and oil changes
  • Basic knowledge of operating machinery, pumps, fluid dynamics, and vacuum systems
  • Participation in the Lead Compliance Program, including quarterly blood testing and respiratory protection
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Valid TWIC card or willingness to obtain
  • Pass a physical-fit exam
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a variety of environments, including confined spaces, and will be exposed to high noise levels, heat, and cold. The candidate must be able to wear safety equipment, including a hard hat, gloves, boots, rain gear, and respirators.

Physical/Mental Demands:

The employee must be able to sit/stand, use hands or fingers, handle or feel, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to move between buildings, ascend/descend stairs, and go outdoors in all kinds of weather. One needs the ability to climb ladders and over bulwarks.
