Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Perioperative Resource Nurse to join our team at Houston Methodist. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will be responsible for providing clinical expertise, coordinating unit education, and serving as a liaison between ancillary departments and vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate unit education and tailored training for specific procedures using specialty equipment and instrumentation
  • Assist management with the coordination of scheduling cases and assist with the overall growth of the perioperative program
  • Provide patient care as an Operating Room Nurse as needed and assist with providing breaks and lunches for staff
  • Serve as a clinical resource for both unit and hospital staff, providing guidance and support on perioperative-specific guidelines and instrumentation
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and initiatives regarding surgery, identifying and presenting improvements in surgery or patient safety-related processes
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Three years registered nurse experience in an operating room setting
  • Six months of previous leadership experience as a charge or coordinator
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure within 60 days
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA)
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA)
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (AHA)
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation
  • CNOR - Certified Operating Room Nurse (CCI)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong clinical, documentation, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment in interactions with physicians, interprofessional healthcare team, and patients and their families
  • Uses critical thinking skills and clinical judgment to work autonomously as defined by the Nurse Practice Act
Work Environment

Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital, scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2025, will be Houston Methodist's ninth hospital and will incorporate the most advanced technology available from the day the doors open.
