As a Medical Records Referral Specialist, you will be responsible for handling incoming and outgoing medical record requests, ensuring compliance with HIPAA guidelines and JMH standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Search for and assemble requested medical records using the EMR system
  • Organize records by timeline and ensure proper documentation for outgoing records
  • Scan incoming records and send them to the appropriate provider
  • Manage incoming referrals, scheduling appointments based on urgency and provider availability
  • Verify insurance and eligibility for referrals using the EMR system and/or payer's website
  • Communicate with referring offices and providers to ensure accurate and complete records
  • Track transfers and ensure all records are sent to the appropriate office
  • Assist with front office duties, such as answering phones and registering patients
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a physician practice or medical setting required
  • Medical record experience preferred
