FTE: 0.75, Shift: Days, Schedule: 10 Hour Shifts, Days

Role Summary

The Gastrointestinal Technician plays a crucial role as a team member, providing essential support to the Gastroenterology Clinics. Responsibilities include cleaning, sterilizing, performing high-level disinfection, and packaging instruments, managing inventory, transporting supplies and equipment, welcoming patients and their families, taking routine vital signs, and preparing examination rooms before and after procedures and clinic visits. This position operates under the direct supervision of the GI Clinic nurse manager or designated supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare for procedures in designated departments
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies
  • Assist the physician during procedures
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure all necessary equipment is available and functioning properly
  • Monitor and report changes in patients' conditions
  • Provide education to patients and their families/support persons as needed
  • Facilitate ethical care planning

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • BLS Certification required
  • Current Washington State CNA License preferred
  • One (1) year of relevant experience preferred, including charge entry and order entry
