Position Overview:

The Senior Process Engineer focusing on Paper Converting will be instrumental in advancing the operational efficiency of Sabert's production processes. This role encompasses providing mentorship to team members, spearheading process enhancement initiatives, and diagnosing underlying issues to improve machinery performance, decrease process inconsistencies, and elevate product quality and throughput.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the training and development of Sabert equipment operators to ensure proficiency in production tools and techniques, including necessary adjustments and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with Sabert leadership, equipment operators, and engineering teams to identify, devise, and execute strategies for process improvement, concentrating on:
    • Boosting production rates
    • Minimizing waste
    • Reducing changeover durations
    • Enhancing quality benchmarks
    • Optimizing product variety
  • Lead or support the formulation of Standard Operating Procedures for tasks such as equipment configuration and process modifications, ensuring consistency throughout the facility.
  • Oversee Sabert's tooling needs within the facility, which includes:
  • Tool procurement
  • Evaluating layouts for new initiatives
  • Collaborating with structural teams on aspects like output enhancement, waste reduction, and material flow.
  • Evaluate the lifespan of existing tooling and implement preventive maintenance strategies to maximize tool performance.
  • Identify opportunities for maintenance improvements for Sabert's equipment.
  • Coordinate Sabert components for New Product Development projects.
  • Establish measures for waste reduction and monitoring throughout production phases, emphasizing efficient material handling practices and conveying the financial implications of waste to foster accountability.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures regarding employment, safety, quality, product standards, security, and regulatory adherence.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Sabert machinery, paper characteristics, corrugating methods, maintenance protocols, training techniques, waste management, process enhancements, and quality assurance.
  • Proven results-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to achieving objectives.
  • Expertise in all facets of paper manufacturing processes and equipment operations.
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Resourceful individual who remains informed about emerging technologies.
  • Effective collaborator with cross-functional teamwork capabilities in a diverse organizational structure.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and work weekends as necessary.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant experience in paper manufacturing.
  • A minimum of 10 years in Sabert operations.
  • Demonstrated history of safety, productivity, and quality accomplishments.
  • Experience in project management and applying Lean principles for process enhancements.
