Position Overview:
As a Homeowners Adjuster I, II, or Sr., you will play a crucial role in the claims process at Direct Auto Insurance. This position involves assessing claims data, investigating incidents, determining coverage and liability, and adjusting claims within your authority limits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and verify claim assignments, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected.
- Make determinations on claim approvals or denials, with authority up to $7,500 per exposure or $10,000 per file.
- Develop an investigative strategy, gathering facts and evidence from all parties involved, and prepare detailed reports.
- Evaluate and adjust claims, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and fair claims practices.
- Engage in negotiations to reach settlements, documenting all activities and decisions clearly in the claims file.
- Identify potential subrogation or fraud issues and refer them to the appropriate unit for further action.
- Participate in investigations related to Personal Injury Protection (PIP) claims, including interactions with medical providers.
- Collaborate with legal representatives to resolve lawsuits when necessary.
- Monitor and document the quality of service provided by defense counsel, managing litigation and recovery costs effectively.
- Assist in training and mentoring Claims Representatives as needed.
- Utilize all company systems and technology proficiently.
- Represent the company in personal appearances when required.
- Identify and address customer needs with effective service skills.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and experience.
- Completion of a Claims Representative trainee program or similar external training.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to manage aggregate file exposures of at least $2,500.
- Solid understanding of claims policies and procedures, with the ability to interpret coverage accurately.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to resolve conflicts with empathy.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Effective organizational and time management abilities.
Additional Skills:
Preferred candidates will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the insurance industry and the functions of related departments.
