Role Summary
The Physician Assistant plays a crucial role in managing patient care under the guidance of a supervising physician. This position is specifically for Night Coverage within the Urology Department.
Key Responsibilities
A typical day for a Physician Assistant at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Gathering comprehensive patient histories and presenting findings to the supervising physician.
- Prescribing medications as permitted, ensuring compliance with established protocols and guidelines.
- Assisting in surgical procedures when necessary, providing support to the supervising surgeon.
- Documenting post-operative notes and coordinating care plans with the supervising physician.
- Managing patient care post-procedure, ensuring all follow-up needs are addressed.
- Performing essential medical procedures such as IV insertions, catheter placements, and blood transfusions.
- Engaging in clinical research initiatives, contributing to data collection and analysis.
- Tailoring care to meet the diverse needs of the patient population, including considerations for age, culture, and communication preferences.
- Upholding the standards set forth in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
Qualifications
Required Education and Skills:
- Completion of an accredited physician assistant program recognized by the AMA Council on Medical Education.
Licensure and Certification:
- Valid Physician Assistant License.
- Certification from the National Commission for Certified Physician Assistants (NCCPA) within one year of employment.
