About the Role:

Nesco Resource is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead the Packaging Department in Elmira, NY. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring efficient operations, quality, productivity, safety, and scheduling in the packaging department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign employees to specific machines and tasks to meet production schedules efficiently.
  • Provide training on department procedures, machine operation, and other relevant tasks to ensure team competency and efficiency.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, implementing measures to prevent injuries and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Train employees in safe work practices and procedures, promoting a culture of safety.
  • Handle minor disciplinary issues and escalate significant concerns to the Plant Manager.
  • Evaluate and recommend candidates for job openings, participating in the selection process to build a skilled team.
  • Coordinate production activities with other shifts and departments to ensure seamless operations.
  • Assist employees with production and machine-related issues, providing guidance and support to resolve problems.
  • Perform Clean Lines, Start-up Checklists, and Pre-job orientations to ensure readiness and compliance.
  • Occasionally operate machinery, trucks, or perform other production tasks as needed.
  • Undertake special assignments requiring technical expertise or experience as requested by the Plant Manager.
  • Support and encourage participation in the "Best Team" program, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, safety regulations, and scheduling requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform occasional machine operations and production tasks.
  • Experience in training and developing staff.
