Job Description

This position involves performing failure analysis and forensic consulting services for insurance, legal, industrial, and other clients. The successful candidate will have expertise in mechanical engineering and be able to investigate complex incidents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform failure analysis for forensic assignments within the field of mechanical engineering expertise.
  • Investigate how and why an incident occurred, including identifying the origin, failure mechanism, and root cause of the incident.
  • Inspect sites, products, equipment, and systems; perform electronic data retrieval and analysis; document site conditions and determine cause and origin of damage.
  • Review and interpret relevant codes, standards, drawings, specifications, technical manuals, peer-reviewed literature, data logs, and other documentation to evaluate compliance.
  • Conduct various analyses, including industrial safety and accidents, equipment design and failure, product liability, and design and safety.
  • Provide support on fire and explosion investigations involving mechanical systems, products, and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
RequirementsEducation and Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
  • P.E. certification required.
  • Minimum 2-10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, including knowledge of products, machine design, HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression systems, and/or other mechanical equipment/systems/processes.
  • Project Management and/or Field Investigation experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications, including Microsoft Office and computer-assisted engineering and design software.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical reports, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Clear and concise writing and presentation skills.
Salary Range

The estimated annual salary range for this position is $130,000 - $200,000, based on education, experience, location, and certifications/licensure.
