We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Health Services Specialist to join our team at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte. As a key member of our health center staff, you will provide direct patient care, perform lab testing, and contribute to achieving health center productivity goals.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care, including performing lab testing, taking vital signs, and assisting with exams.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure accurate information and quality care.
- Contribute to achieving health center productivity goals by efficiently managing patient flow, completing tasks, and maintaining accurate records.
- Perform moderately complex lab testing, including pregnancy tests, STI/HIV testing, and phlebotomy/venipuncture.
- Prepare daily patient lab samples for transfer to appropriate labs, maintain lab logs, and run lab reports for daily reconciliation.
- Clean and maintain exam rooms, lab areas, and autoclave as assigned.
- Provide patients with accurate information regarding Planned Parenthood services, including questions pertaining to contraception, options, and funding sources.
- Solicit donations from patients per PPMM guidelines.
- Demonstrate PPMM customer service standards and workplace values.
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Able to communicate sensitive information across a range of diverse backgrounds (both verbal and written)
- General knowledge of Windows-based computer applications and willingness to learn new computer skills
- Ability to work in a busy environment, handling multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising accuracy, attention to detail, and respect to patients and staff
- Ability to work at nearby PPMM locations as needed
- Able to work nights and weekends as required
