Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Surgical First Assistant to join our team at Ascension Saint Thomas. As a key member of the surgical team, you will provide direct assistance to surgeons during surgical procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons during surgical procedures, providing visualization of the operative site and utilizing appropriate techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
  • Position patients to give best exposure for surgical procedures, using stabilizing equipment when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
  • Participate as a surgical team member in the preparation of the surgical suite, ensuring that all necessary instruments, resources, and supplies are available.
  • Assist with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.
  • Remain vigilant and proactive in maintaining a safe and efficient operating room environment.
Requirements
  • Certified First Surgical Assistant (CFA) certification required.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience or Associate's degree/Technical degree or 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
  • BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month of hire date or job transfer date required.
