Role Summary:
The Emergency Medical Technician II is responsible for performing a variety of technical duties related to patient care. This role involves both direct and indirect support to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct EKGs, venipuncture (not applicable in the Emergency Department), IV procedures, and bedside assessments.
  2. Administer emergency first aid as required.
  3. Respond promptly to medical emergencies.
  4. Provide basic patient care while considering individual age and developmental needs.
  5. Assist in the transportation of patients using wheelchairs or stretchers.
  6. Alert nursing staff of any abnormal findings or changes in patient conditions.
  7. Perform clerical tasks as needed.
  8. Utilize Epic for patient data management.
  9. Be prepared to undertake additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of the Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B TX) or Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (EMT-P) program as mandated by the State of Texas.
  • State Registration as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B TX) or Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (EMT-P).
  • Current BLS certification recognized by JPS, to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Relevant experience based on EMT level.
Preferred:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and Level 1 EKG Competency (to be obtained post-hire).
